This year's auction is over and our class all had something to say about their experiences. Thanks to all of you for sticking with it! Make sure you all watch Dom Preciso's video interviewing students from the class. We had technical difficulties at the event.

Below are some really awesome photos from Victor Patravanich, an exchange student staying with the Murphys.

Thanks again everyone for coming, from the feedback we've received, you had a great time!

From the class and me, big huge thanks to Charity Chesnek who organized and stored all the donations. She came to class today to talk about some statistics with the donations. One cool thing we found out is that our class procured about 50% of the donations received. These were obtained from donors we had last year plus new donors we worked to meet this year.

At TFT last night we talked about making this a bigger fundraiser. We hope you'll attend the next TFT meeting to discuss budget issues.

Without further ado, here's the breakdown:
Gross: $25,383
Expenses: $5770
=$19,613
Collective bid for the rooftop garden: $5,625 (way to go!!!)
Net: $13,988

You'll need to attend the budget meeting at TFT to see the break down of that net amount. This year's agreement was: 1. Fund TFT for the following year. This includes all the great things TFT does + seed money for next year's auction. 2. After the budget for TFT has been decided, the remainder is as follows: 25% to TFT and 75% to the school. When we started this year, the 75% for the school was to go to the Capital Campaign. With no Capital Campaign (congratulations and fabulous job on refinancing!!!) the Board will keep us posted as to what those dollars will fund.

Thanks for all the hard work from teachers with classroom projects (fabulous!), liaisons for classroom baskets (very popular!) and Mary Drinkhouse for all the enthusiastic reminders. Thanks to Ben & Megan Dyer for the fabulous dinner, and to our entertaining emcees Anne Stark & Neil Hightower. Thanks to all the parents and friends who donated, attended, or volunteered the night of the event to help support Trillium in every way!

What i learned in auction class hhmmm. I learned what it takes to make the auction happen all the stuff that goes on to set it up and make it run smoothly. I also learned how to work with a team of people and i think that skill alone will be very useful in life haha...

On the night of the auction I helped work on will call. I helped organize the items after the silent auctions were closed. After the whole auction was over and people were checking out, our team of people was responsible for everyone recieving their items.

During trillium auction class i learned how to work together to make a smooth and professional auction to raise money for the school. I also learned how to look for potential donors that were local and nice. During the auction i learned how to play a safe and courteous server.

My name is Alex Liljenquist, I am a student from the Auction Class. My primary team was sales which I spoke about the night of the actual Auction. In class we learned a lot, mostly about basic skills like cold calling and our actual sales pitch that we used on our sales call to Keller Williams Realty Office. I learned many things that will undoubtedly help me later in life. I would like to thank everyone that came to the Auction and helped make it great, so thanks everyone.

One of my main jobs was to keep track of all the donation forms and made sure that they were filled out properly. I also reasearched companies for donations and wrote letters and thank you notes.

My main job for helping with the auction was procurring donations. In order to find companies to send donation requests to, I did lots of reaserch to see what kinds of companies would most likely donate and help out with the auction.

I learned how an auction is set up. Before I took this class I didn't know how much time had to be put into making sure the event ran smoothly. I thought that you just simply got stuff together in a room and sold it. It takes alot of time, energy and patience. It's definetly harder then you would think.

Trillium students care about the environment!

This just in from Jenny's class:
"According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), used or unwanted electronics amounted to 1.9 to 2.2 million tons in 2005, most of that ending up in landfills. "

Based on this statement, Jenny's class has RE-created an art assemblage using recycled computer parts. This hand crafted table is painted and the computer parts are encased in the table top to create a conversation starting side-table.

These are the titles of exciting and original artwork designed and created by students in Zach's and Jeremy's classrooms. Student artwork offers some of the most thrilling auction items available at Trillium In Bloom. You won't want to miss this!!

Here is a description from Zach, 3-4-5 teacher, of how the students designed the projects:
Each advising group examined works of other artists who use found plastic as their medium for doing collage. After being inspired by the possibilities, we set off on the task of deciding what our collage would look like. The students brainstormed ideas for the subject matter and then voted on one. After that, each student drew a "Best Picture" sketch to generate ideas of what it could look like. We voted on our favorites!
Medium: Reused plywood, diverted plastic (diverted from going to landfills), glue, and polyurethane spray.

Donate your art, whether it's a painting, a sculpture, or an evening concert, we LOVE art
Donate your love of gardening to a homeowner who needs help in the yard.
VIP tour of your company - everyone is curious about what happens behind the scenes. Take one or two of us to your office for a few hours and buy us lunch.
Donate your cabin on the coast or in the mountains for a weekend to a family (or parents!) who need to get away.
Gaming party - Tanner, we're counting on you.
Donate a dinner party. Create a sign-up board for 10-20 people to come to your house to party!
Donate your love of photography to a family in need of new portraits.
Donate your organizational skills to someone who knows their space is in complete disarray.
